Cybersecurity In Timor-Leste
Timor-Leste is encountering an expanding digital environment and rising cyber threats, especially phishing attacks and malware infections. The ongoing digital transformation in the country is raising significant concerns regarding data privacy and protection. To tackle these challenges, Timor-Leste should prioritise cybersecurity as a crucial element of its digital transformation journey. The government has implemented policies and frameworks aimed at enhancing cybersecurity capabilities; however, challenges remain, including constraints in resources and technical expertise. A detailed cybersecurity strategy is essential, encompassing a complete evaluation of the nation's current cybersecurity environment, pinpointing vulnerabilities and threats, and assessing the efficacy of existing measures. Public-private partnerships, including the Cybersecurity Tech Accord, the National Cyber Security Alliance, and the Cyber Threat Alliance, play a crucial role in strengthening cybersecurity initiatives and protecting critical infrastructure.
